I have issue of developing cataract plus this year I went for my nasal polyp surgery. Since the day of surgery (15mrch) I have been using nazomac m nasal spray, which is a steroid I suppose. Both my ophthalmologist and ent surgeon are well versed in their field but I am stuck at an contradictory remark from both. My ophthalmologist says the spray could be cause of increase in my cataract issue (increase was detected) my ent surgeon says it doesn't have effect on eye. To me both my parts are equally important doctors out their please help.

Hello. Yes it is true. Steroid in any form causes increase in cataract i.e. Cataract maturation gets faster and comes at an earlier age. You can continue using low-potency steroids for your nasal problem if it is really needed. Steroid in any form can lead to cataract. It is better to stop this. Discuss with your ent surgeon and ask for a less dangerous medicine.
